On Sunday 16 May our group met with Jonathan Tyler, an expert on sustainable transport and Chair of the York Environment Forum, to discuss the future of transport in York and local transport issues. The meeting was attended by 7 of us.

It has been educational and great fun being involved in the Green Streets project and nice to get to know a few more of my neighbours. I have enjoyed discussing various ways of reducing our carbon footprint: loft insulation, growing our own veg, veggie boxes, ways to reduce waste and maximise recycling, composting and power tool sharing to name but a few.
Maybe it's new bulbs and spring weather but March has seen plenty of activity on Bishopthorpe Road: The Energy Saving Trust visited our monthly meeting with plenty of help and advice on home and travel CO2 reduction.
So I'm thinking it must be a conspiracy. Sign up for this Green streets thing and stuff starts breaking.
We have a great team although it is rather small so we have organised two nights one called ‘eco fun’ and the other ‘eco information night’ the first night is for kids will have three activities refreshments and a guess how many worms in the compost in the jar! The activities will be
The Scarcroft Road Green Streets group has now met twice to consider how we as an ordinary group of local households can make any inroads to reduce our carbon emissions as part of the University of York's Green Streets project.
February has been a quiet month on Bishopthorpe Road. Everyone has been working on their various pledges and being polite to each other in the street. The most exciting thing that happened was that we all managed to pose for a photo… so here we are: the Bishopthorpe Road team.
It is a truth universally acknowledged that Bishopthorpe Road produces more CO2 per road metre than anywhere else in York – more fuel is needed to get up the hill – and so its residents are keen to make amends. OK, I did just make that up but we are keen.
We are asking a member of our six teams to be the offical blogger. We will post the first blog when we get it. Watch this space!
